The Embassy also delivers various certificates to its citizens residing in the United States and Mexico. Please refer to the list below that explains the types of legal documents issued by the Consulate of the Republic of Congo in Washington, D.C.

PROCESSING TIME

The processing time for all consular services requests take up between 5-7 business days from the day a visa application or a consular service request is received. The Consulate section of the Republic of Congo in Washington, D.C does not offer any rush or expedited services. Unfortunately, the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the USA does not issue death certificates, birth certificates or marriage certificates. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

AUTHORIZATION FOR THE TRANSFER OF HUMAN REMAINS

  • A copy of the deceased's original birth certificate ;
  • A proof of Congolese citizenship such as a Congolese passport, Congolese National ID card or Congolese citizenship certificate ;
  • A copy of the hospital's medical records certifying the death and causes of the death for the deceased Congolese citizen ;
  • An official letter on the Funeral Home letterhead confirming that they are in charge of making the necessary arrangements to ship the human remains to the Republic of Congo;
  • A certificate from the Funeral Home on official letterhead attesting the human corpes was embalmed under proper and legal U.S sanitary regulations and does not pose any health threat or disease to anyone;
  • A copy of the Funeral Home's Licence that is in charge of shipping back the humen remains to the Republic of Congo;
  • A signed and typewritten letter by the family representative residing in the USA, Canada or Mexico addressed to H.E Ambassador Serge Mombouli, requesting a death certificate. Your letter must bear your full name, home address, email, a calendar date and a telephone number ;
  • A copy of the family representative’s ID Card ( Driver’s License, Passport, or State ID);
  • A flight reservation or flight itinerary confirming the intention to transfer the human remains to the Republic of Congo;
  • Due to some undisclosed reasons, the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the United States of America is no longer accepting Business checks. The Death Certificate's fees will still remain at 20.00 U.S Dollars. As of August 20th, 2014, only cash (only if physically present) and money orders will be accepted as the only form of payment for Death Certificate's fees. Furthermore, the money order should be paid to the order of , " Embassy of the Republic of Congo.” All consular services fees are non-refundable. Be aware that the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the USA does NOT accept Canadian or Mexican Postal checks under any circumstances ;
  • A prepaid Fedex, UPS or USPS envelope with a TRACKING NUMBER to return your authorization of human remains transfer. Canadian or Mexican prepaid postal envelopes are not accepted under any circumstances.

CERTIFICATE OF LIFE MAINTENANCE

  • A signed and typewritten letter to his H.E Ambassador Serge Mombouli, requesting a Certificate of life maintenance. Your letter must bear your full name, home address, email, a calendar date and a telephone number ;
  • A photocopy of your Congolese Passport or Congolese National ID ;
  • A document that confirms former employment in the Republic of Congo ;
  • Due to some undisclosed reasons, the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the United States of America is no longer accepting Business checks. The Birth Certificate fees will still remain at 20.00 U.S Dollars. As of August 20th, 2014, only cash (only if physically present) and money orders will be accepted as the only form of payment for Birth Certificate fees. Furthermore, the money order should be paid to the order of , " Embassy of the Republic of Congo." All consular services fees are non-refundable. Be aware that the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the USA does NOT accept Canadian or Mexican Postal checks under any circumstances ;
  • A prepaid USPS , Fedex or UPS envelope with a TRACKING NUMBER in order to return your birth certificate. We do not accept Canadian and Mexican prepaid postal envelopes.

LEGALIZATION OF COMMERCIAL DOCUMENTS

  • Original copies of Commercial documents ;
  • Photocopies of Commercial documents ;
  • A signed and typewritten addressed to the Ambassador of Serge Mombouli in which the legalization request is stated. Your letter must bear your full name, home address, email, a calendar date and a telephone number ;
  • Due to some undisclosed reasons, the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the United States of America is no longer accepting Business checks. The Legalization of document's fees will still remain at 200.00 U.S Dollars. As of August 20th, 2014, only cash (only if physically present) and money orders will be accepted as the only form of payment for Legalization of Document's fees. Furthermore, the money order should be paid to the order of , " Embassy of the Republic of Congo.” All consular services fees are non-refundable once a request has been submitted. Be aware that the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the USA does NOT accept Canadian or Mexican Postal checks under any circumstances.
  • A prepaid Fedex, UPS or USPS prepaid envelope with a TRACKING NUMBER to return the legalized commercial documents. Canadian or Mexican prepaid postal envelopes are not accepted.

LEGALIZATION OF DIPLOMAS

  • Original copies of the Diploma;
  • Photocopies of the Diploma;
  • A signed and typewritten letter addressed to the Ambassador of Serge Mombouli in which the legalization request is stated. Your letter must bear your full name, home address, email, a calendar date and a telephone number ;
  • An official letter from the Accredited educational institution confirming that the student has graduated. This letter must be signed by a school authority and must also bear the official stamp or seal.
  • Due to some undisclosed reasons, the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the United States of America is no longer accepting Business checks. The Legalization of diplomas' fees will still remain at 20.00 U.S Dollars per diploma. As of August 20th, 2014, only cash (only if physically present) and money orders will be accepted as the only form of payment for Legalization of Document's fees. Furthermore, the money order should be paid to the order of , " Embassy of the Republic of Congo.” We do apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. 
  • A prepaid Fedex, UPS or USPS prepaid envelope with a TRACKING NUMBER to return the legalized commercial documents. Canadian or Mexican prepaid postal envelopes are not accepted.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Consulate Section of the Embassy of the the Republic of Congo in Washington, D.C., highly encourages all consular services applicants to fulfill all the requirements listed above. Refusal to provide all the correct documents will result in the systematic rejection of your consular services requests.

NOTICE ABOUT CONSULAR FEES PAYMENT

The Embassy of the Republic of Congo only accepts money orders, cashier checks or business checks as fees payment if consular services requests are sent through Fedex, USPS ou UPS. Personal checks, Western Union money transfer, Money Gram money transfer, Credit or Debit cards, Canadian or Mexican postal checks are not accepted. Cash will only be accepted if the applicant is physically present at the moment of the service requested. No legal document requests will be processed until you have fully paid your consular services fees. All consular services fees are non-refundable. It is important to note that all the copies of the original documents must be clear and readable.
